Softball Recap: Texas Starts Season with Victory Against Redwater

Texas took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Everything went their way against the Redwater Dragons as the Texas Tigers made off with a 12-2 win. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Dragons, too.

Eva Treadway spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Texas let Sydney King and Palin Nichols loose on the outfield. King went a perfect2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Nichols went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The dominant performance gave King a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cara Williams, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Coming up, Texas will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Duncanville at 1:45 p.m. Redwater has already played their next matchup (against Granbury), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
