League recap: Centauri tops Burlington to extend winning streak

Centauri added to the longest winning streak in 1A Southern Peaks this week by beating Burlington, 27-13. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Falcons.

Monte Vista fell to Paonia 31-15 last week, the largest margin of any game. Michael Sanchez was a bright spot for the Pirates, as he threw for 37 yards and ran for 48 yards in the loss.

Centauri's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. KC Jarvies threw for 91 and 1 touchdown and Clay McCarroll had 46 yards receiving. On the ground Jason Buhr contributed 92 yards. Jareb Aziz helped Centauri's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 29 yards.

Kyle Forster's team's dynamic duo of Jarvies and McCarroll proved to be unstoppable against the Cougars, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Aziz helped Centauri's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 29 yards.

Ignacio's Adison Jones and Clayton Jefferson led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jones has thrown for 1,997 yards this season, while Jefferson has 51 catches for 740 yards. Buhr from the Falcons leads the league in rushing with 1,060 yards.

Centauri made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,710 from 3,780. The improvement was largely due to a 27-13 victory over Burlington last week.
