Baseball Recap: Benson Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Benson entered their tilt with Ortonville on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Trojans. While Benson didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Landon Skarsten spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Alex Claussen was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He also put up a hit, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Max Nygaard, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Benson's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ortonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Benson will take on Dawson-Boyd at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Ortonville, they will host Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
