Soccer Game Preview: Lakewood vs. Hartsville

Lakewood is 0-8 against Hartsville since April of 2015 but things could change on Friday. Lakewood will head out on the road to challenge Hartsville at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Lakewood made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lower Richland, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Lakewood's defense stepped up to hand Lower Richland a 5-0 shutout on Tuesday. The game marked Lakewood's most dominant victory of the season so far.

Makayla Cisse and Reagan Wilson scored all five of Lakewood's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Meanwhile, Hartsville waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Falcons 10-0. The result was nothing new for Hartsville, who have now won six contests by six goals or more so far this season.

Lakewood's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-3. As for Hartsville, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.

Lakewood suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Hartsville in their previous meeting back in April of 2018. Can Lakewood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
