Basketball Recap: Heritage Victorious

Heritage's tournament run continued when they took on Hartsburg-Emden on Friday. The Hawks blew past the Stags 68-46.

Brayden Jones went supernova, going 11-for-27 en route to 30 points. His morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Clark Roland was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Hartsburg-Emden's loss came despite strong showings from Kyler Williams and Peyton Swinford. Williams shot 41% from the field to rack up 20 points, while Swinford posted 16 points.

Heritage's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Hartsburg-Emden, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Heritage wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 50-43 defeat against Urbana University on the 28th. As for Hartsburg-Emden, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-42 loss against Fisher on the 28th.
