Basketball Recap: Crownpoint Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when Crownpoint duked it out with Zuni on Friday. The Crownpoint Eagles were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to the Zuni Thunderbirds. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Thunderbirds earlier this season, when they won 60-41.

Among those leading the charge was Mason Bobelu, who went 5-for-11 en route to 15 points and three steals. Zuni is 5-2 when Bobelu posts three or more steals, but 7-9 otherwise. Dominick Lonjose was another key player, putting up nine points and six boards.

Crownpoint dropped their record down to 7-15 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Zuni, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Crownpoint wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-38 win against Newcomb on the 15th. As for Zuni, they have also already played their next matchup, a 58-50 victory against Thoreau on the 15th.
