Softball Preview: Mission Bay Buccaneers vs. Coronado Islanders        
        
		
            
 The Mission Bay Buccaneers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Coronado Islanders at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Coronado took a loss in their last  match and will be looking to turn the tables on Mission Bay, who comes in off a win.
 Mission Bay gave up the first  runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them  down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Madison  and snuck past  6-5.
  Evie Horton was a major factor no matter where she played. She  tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned run off   one  hit (she also only allowed one  walk). Horton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Horton was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with a  stolen base and  an  RBI.
 In other batting news, Mission Bay let  Maraea Hicks and  Kassie Zavala loose on the outfield. Hicks  went 1-for-4 with a  triple, two  RBI,  and a  run, while  Zavala  scored two  runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of  Indy Beesley, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought  game, but Coronado had to settle for  a  7-6 loss against Morse on Thursday.
  Susanna Pate was cooking despite her team's loss,   scoring three  runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Lucy Kenny, who  scored a  run while going 4-for-5.
 Even though they lost, Coronado was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morse only posted a  batting average of  .214.
 Mission Bay's win  ended  an  11-game drought at home  dating back to last season and  bumped them up to 3-12. As for Coronado, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6-1.
 Mission Bay came up short against Coronado in their previous meeting  back in February of 2022, falling  4-0. Thankfully for Mission Bay,  Anneliese Wong (who   didn't allow a single  earned run over six innings pitched) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
