Baseball Recap: Horse Creek Academy's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dutch Fork, Horse Creek Academy was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans by a score of 17-12. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Stallions considering their one-run performance the game before.

Bryce Gunter made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Horse Creek Academy is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8 otherwise. Gunter was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

In other batting news, Horse Creek Academy let Cannon Blume and Connor Kanagy run wild. Blume went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Kanagy got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. What's more, Kanagy posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brice Abney, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Horse Creek Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory snapped Horse Creek Academy's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-10 record. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Looking ahead, Horse Creek Academy will face off against American Leadership Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ridge Spring-Monetta will be paying especially close attention to the Stallions' match: after the Stallions face off against the Patriots, they'll take on Ridge Spring-Monetta again at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
