Madisonville has won six straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Bellville has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Mustangs will host the Brahmas at 7:30 p.m. Madisonville has given up an average of 25.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Madisonville is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 45 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Sealy on Friday. They took a blow against the Tigers, falling 42-10. The game marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Despite the loss, Madisonville got top-tier performance from Jaden Simpson, who rushed for 118 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Simpson got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 75 yards.
Meanwhile, Bellville humbled Giddings with a 49-14 victory. The Brahmas might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Madisonville better focus on containing Knox Bauerschlag and Travis Turner as the pair were huge in Bellville's win. Bauerschlag threw for 161 yards and five TDs on only 13 passes, while Turner rushed for 135 yards and one score on only nine carries. Those five passing touchdowns gave Bauerschlag a new career-high.
Bellville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 232 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Madisonville moved to 5-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Bellville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Madisonville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 204.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bellville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 242.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Madisonville suffered a grim 47-21 defeat to Bellville in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Mustangs, Dd Murray (who rushed for 197 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 50 receiving yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
