Softball Game Preview: Greater Johnstown Trojans vs. Rockwood Rockets

The Greater Johnstown Trojans are headed away from home for the first time to square off against the Rockwood Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Greater Johnstown is leaving town to face Rockwood after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Greater Johnstown lost 16-1 to Penn Cambria on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 13 in a row.

Meanwhile, Rockwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Everett, falling 25-16. While the Rockets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Warriors 7-3 in the first period.

Elika Pletcher stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Demchak, who scored a run while going 3-for-6.
