Softball Game Preview: Eastchester Eagles vs. Somers Tuskers

The Eastchester Eagles will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Somers Tuskers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Eastchester will be strutting in after a victory while Somers will be coming in after a loss.

Eastchester is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Ardsley. The Eagles walked away with a 9-6 win over the Panthers on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Sabrina Cosgrove spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Grace Comizio, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Angelina Recine, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Eastchester hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Somers didn't have quite enough to beat Lakeland on Thursday and fell 4-2.

Kaleigh Conti was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Morel, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
