Basketball Recap: Centaurus Skates Past Wheat Ridge with Ease

On Friday, the Centaurus Warriors were fully in charge, breezing past the Wheat Ridge Farmers 59-17. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Farmers are ranked 318th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ingrid Lorton was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 12 to rack up 19 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Centaurus is 2-1 when Lorton posts five or more steals, but 6-8 otherwise. Rose Pacheco was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to six boards and six steals.

Centaurus was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wheat Ridge only posted four assists.

The win made it two in a row for Centaurus and bumps their season record up to 8-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games. As for Wheat Ridge, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

Centaurus has already played their next matchup, a 63-30 defeat against Holy Family on the 5th. As for Wheat Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-16 loss against Littleton on the 1st.
