Softball Recap: Hughesville's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hughesville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Montoursville Warriors. Eight seems to be a good number for the Spartans as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Hughesville saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Smith, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Smith also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Adelyn Knight was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

The victory (which was Hughesville's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Montoursville, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Hughesville will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Warrior Run at 4:30 p.m. As for Montoursville, they will venture away from home to take on Southern Columbia Area at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
