Baseball Game Preview: Milton Panthers vs. Gulf Breeze Dolphins

The Milton Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Gulf Breeze Dolphins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Milton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Milton duked it out with Baldwin County on Friday. Milton fell just short of Baldwin County by a score of 3-2. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Cade Burdette was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Burdette wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Albrecht, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Albrecht also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Gulf Breeze came up short against Baker on Friday and fell 7-2.

Milton's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Gulf Breeze, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Milton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Gulf Breeze struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Milton couldn't quite finish off Gulf Breeze in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 and fell 2-0. Can Milton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
