Recap: Lake Creek Lions vs. Brenham Cubs
If the Lake Creek Lions were feeling good off their 88-57 takedown of the Magnolia West Mustangs last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lake Creek took a 87-71 bruising from Brenham on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Lake Creek's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aedan Lewis, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds. Lewis has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Sutton, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Lake Creek's loss dropped their record down to 21-8. As for Brenham, their win bumped their record up to 21-7.
Lake Creek will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Magnolia at 6:30 p.m. Magnolia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 656th, while Lake Creek is ranked 179th). As for Brenham, they will head out on the road to take on Montgomery at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Montgomery is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
