Softball Game Preview: Jo Byrns Red Devils vs. Trousdale County Yellowjackets

The Jo Byrns Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Trousdale County Yellowjackets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Jo Byrns hasn't scored more than two runs for seven games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Jo Byrns fell victim to Todd County Central and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 11-0 to the Rebels.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Trousdale County sidestepped Westmoreland for a 5-3 win. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Oakley McCall was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cayden Ray, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last six contests. Diane Winter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Jo Byrns' loss dropped their record down to 6-19. As for Trousdale County, their record is now 14-9.

Jo Byrns couldn't quite finish off Trousdale County in their previous matchup on April 14th and fell 3-1. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
