Baseball Recap: Hoover Starts Season with Win on the Road

Hoover had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Nitro Wildcats 5-3. This was payback for the Huskies, who suffered a 10-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Braydon Bounds, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Peyton Grigsby was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Hoover wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-6 win against Lincoln County on the 22nd. As for Nitro, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-0 defeat against Keyser on the 22nd.
