Basketball Recap: Panguitch Piles Up the Points Against El Capitan

A well-balanced attack led Panguitch over El Capitan in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Panguitch Bobcats blew the El Capitan Eagles out of the water with a 60-17 final score. With the Bobcats ahead 37-8 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Leading Panguitch to victory were Mallory Henrie and Makena Owens. Henrie posted 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals, while Owens went 5 of 11 on her way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayt Miller, who had nine points.

Panguitch has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for El Capitan, they dropped their record down to 5-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Panguitch will take on Escalante at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. As for El Capitan, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Rough Rock at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. El Capitan is facing Rough Rock at the right time seeing as Rough Rock is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
