Basketball Game Preview: Lanphier Lions vs. MacArthur Generals

Lanphier hasn't had much luck against MacArthur recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Lanphier Lions will head out on the road to face off against the MacArthur Generals at 2:30 p.m.

Lanphier's tournament run continued when they took on East Peoria on Friday. Lanphier lost 70-49 to East Peoria. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while the Raiders are ranked 178th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask MacArthur). Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 90-32 stomp they got against Peoria. The Generals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Lanphier and nudges their season record down to 5-7. As for MacArthur, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.

Lanphier suffered a grim 61-39 defeat to MacArthur in their previous matchup last Tuesday. Can Lanphier avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
