Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Brandeis' Winning Streak

Brandeis lost against Churchill on January 3rd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Brandeis Broncos took a 59-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Churchill Chargers. The Broncos' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Brandeis lost, don't look at Mia Ramos. Despite the final result, she went 8 for 19 en route to 21 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Ramos has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Peyton Pierson was another key player, putting up seven points and 12 boards.

Churchill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alina Hernandez led the charge by posting 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Hernandez has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Fernandez, who posted seven points in addition to nine boards and eight assists.

Brandeis' defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-17. As for Churchill, they pushed their record up to 26-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Brandeis will head out to take on Clark at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Churchill, they will face off against SA Roosevelt at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Churchill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.6 points per game this season.
