Baseball Game Preview: Winchester Community Golden Falcons vs. Wapahani Raiders

Winchester Community is 0-7 against Wapahani since May of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Golden Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Winchester Community 3.2, Wapahani 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Wapahani will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Winchester Community extended their winning streak to four on Saturday. The Golden Falcons put the hurt on Union City with a sharp 16-2 win. Considering the Golden Falcons have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Dravin Whitehead made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Whitehead was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Winchester Community got a massive performance out of Bryce Tippett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Tippett a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jace Allen, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Wapahani's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Delta by a score of 3-1. The match marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Brandt Longfellow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Winchester Community pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Wapahani, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
