Basketball Recap: Peoria Notre Dame Takes a Loss

Peoria Notre Dame lost against Champaign Central back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between the Peoria Notre Dame Irish and the Champaign Central Maroons didn't end well, with the Peoria Notre Dame Irish falling 56-42. While losing is never fun, the Irish can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 431st, while the Maroons are ranked 111th).

It was another big night for Chris Bush, who went 8 for 15 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds for Champaign Central. Bush is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Aidyn Beck was another key player, putting up five points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.

This is the second loss in a row for Peoria Notre Dame and nudges their season record down to 4-12. As for Champaign Central, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 9-6.

Peoria Notre Dame will head out to square off against Manual at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Manual will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Peoria Notre Dame surely won't give up without a fight. As for Champaign Central, they will host Normal West at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Champaign Central is facing Normal West at the right time seeing as Normal West is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
