Baseball Recap: Santa Teresa Has No Trouble Against Deming

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Santa Teresa and Deming had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Desert Warriors blew past the Wildcats 11-4 on Friday. Considering the Desert Warriors have won 15 games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Marcos Rivera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Gavin Garcia was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jackson Simpson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Santa Teresa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Deming only posted a batting average of .214.

Santa Teresa's record now sits at 18-7. As for Deming, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-8.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Santa Teresa will face off against Grants at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Desert Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Deming, they will head out on the road to challenge Bloomfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
