Soccer Game Preview: Mourning vs. American Heritage

The Mourning Sharks will square off against the American Heritage Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mourning is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.3 goals per game this season.

American Heritage is hoping to do what Reagan couldn't on Friday: put an end to Mourning's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Mourning's defense stepped up to hand Reagan a 1-0 shutout. The Sharks' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three games.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Gerard Gonzalez, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, American Heritage was able to grind out a solid victory over Columbus last Monday, taking the game 2-0. Andrew Pavlov had to tread lightly for part of the match after he was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble the Patriots got from the refs.

American Heritage's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-1-4. As for Mourning, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1-2.

Mourning might still be hurting after the 4-0 defeat they got from American Heritage in their previous meeting back in February of 2019. Can Mourning avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
