Preview: El Monte Lions vs. Rosemead Panthers
The El Monte Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Rosemead Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for El Monte and nine for Rosemead.
El Monte suffered their biggest defeat since December 27, 2023 on Monday. They were outmatched by Gabrielino on the road and fell 73-32. El Monte has struggled against Gabrielino recently, as their contest on Monday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Rosemead came up short against Arroyo on Monday and fell 49-41.
Despite the loss, Rosemead saw an underclassman step up: Rhys Anderson scored 23 points. Anderson hasn't dropped below 15points for 13 straight games. Andrew Mojica was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
El Monte has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 14 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-23 record this season. As for Rosemead, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-14.
El Monte suffered a grim 44-22 defeat to Rosemead when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can El Monte avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
