Recap: Liberal Redskins vs. Hays Indians
The Liberal Redskins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Hays at home and fell 66-32. While losing is never fun, Liberal can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while Hays is ranked 42nd).
Loss or not, Liberal got some senior leadership from Zayden Martinez and Beto Torres. Martinez scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two blocks, while Torres. scored nine points.
Liberal dropped their record down to 5-12 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Hays, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Liberal will head out on the road to take on Great Bend at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Great Bend has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Hays, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Abilene at 8:00 p.m. Abilene will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Hays surely won't give up without a fight.
