Basketball Recap: Lake Creek Falls Short of Beaumont United in the Playoffs

Lake Creek and Beaumont United squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Lake Creek had to settle for second. They took a 47-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Beaumont United Timberwolves. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Timberwolves are ranked 61st).

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Axel Anderson, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Mcshan, who posted eight points and three blocks.

Lake Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 19-17. As for Beaumont United, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-10 record this season.

Lake Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Beaumont United, they will challenge Weiss on Monday. Weiss will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Beaumont United surely won't give up without a fight.
