An exciting North v. South battle is about to be fought. The Wheaton North Falcons will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Wheaton North 3, Wheaton-Warrenville South 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Wheaton North is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Naperville North 17-9 on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Falcons, who have now won four matchups in a row.

Makayla Grantz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Makayla Hammer was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Abby Del Preto was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Wheaton North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Wheaton-Warrenville South's offense. They fell 3-0 to St. Charles North on Wednesday. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the North Stars recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Wheaton-Warrenville South saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alison Hubsky, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Wheaton North pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Wheaton-Warrenville South, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-3.
Wheaton North came out on top in a nail-biter against Wheaton-Warrenville South in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
