After losing to King's Academy the last time they met, Carlmont decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Carlmont narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past King's Academy 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Scots have posted since March 19, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Molly Brand, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Bella Wilson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Brand wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Carlmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Carlmont and bumps their season record up to 2-5. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 12.5 hits in those games compared to only 4.6 in the others. As for King's Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Carlmont wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 10-5 defeat against Hillsdale on the 25th. As for King's Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wilcox at 4:00 p.m. on April 9.
