Preview: Heritage Hurricanes vs. Woodside Wolverines
Heritage is 2-7 against Woodside since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Heritage Hurricanes will head out on the road to face off against the Woodside Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Heritage has three straight victories, Woodside has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Heritage can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Kecoughtan 34-7 on the road. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Heritage had established a 20 point advantage.
Heritage can attribute much of their success to Sterling Anderson, who picked up 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Derrick Gurley jr, who threw for 160 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Woodside and Gloucester were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but Woodside suffered an agonizing 15-14 loss.
Heritage's victory bumped their season record to 4-5 while Woodside's loss dropped theirs to 1-8.
Heritage and Woodside were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in September of 2022, but Heritage came up empty-handed after a 21-20 loss. Can Heritage avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
