Basketball Recap: Oceanside Collegiate Academy's Run of Nine Straight Wins Now Over

Oceanside Collegiate Academy and Dillon squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Oceanside Collegiate Academy had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Dillon Wildcats by a score of 59-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (55), the Landsharks still had to take the loss.

Dillon was led to victory by Treasure Davis and Khwnylahi Mckinnon. Davis dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards, while Mckinnon went 10-for-24 en route to 23 points and five steals. Davis' afternoon made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Ayonna Lester, who posted five points in addition to six assists and six steals.

The loss snapped Oceanside Collegiate Academy's winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 22-6 record. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.4 points on average over those games. As for Dillon, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season.
