Recap: Divine Savior Academy Sharks vs. Ransom Everglades Raiders
The Divine Savior Academy Sharks suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Thursday. They were dealt a 54-19 loss at the hands of Ransom Everglades. Divine Savior Academy has struggled against Ransom Everglades recently, as their match on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Sharks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evie Hoppe, who scored six points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Hoppe grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Sofia Mueller, who scored five points along with 14 rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Divine Savior Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Ransom Everglades racked up 15 assists.
Gabriela Pena continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ransom Everglades, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Pena hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for ten straight games. Nica Rosenberg was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven steals and five assists.
Divine Savior Academy's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.5 points per game. As for Ransom Everglades, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Divine Savior Academy will challenge Reagan at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Reagan comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last 13 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Ransom Everglades won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Calvary Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Calvary Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Wednesday.
