Recap: George Washington Patriots vs. ThunderRidge Grizzlies
The George Washington Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 46-34 to ThunderRidge. While losing is never fun, George Washington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while ThunderRidge is ranked 39th).
George Washington's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Abryanna Alejo Grajeda, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds, and NaQua Barnett who scored 7 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead ThunderRidge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ben Kayser-cochran, who scored 14 points. Alexis Baker was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
George Washington has fallen quite a ways from their 21-5 record last season and are now at 0-3. As for ThunderRidge, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. George Washington will take on Fort Collins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Fort Collins focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Friday. As for ThunderRidge, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Doherty at 3:00 p.m.
