Football Recap: Southmoore Comes Up Short

Southmoore lost against Putnam City back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The SaberCats took a 38-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. The SaberCats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rodgerick Sloan was his usual excellent self, rushing for 166 yards and a pair of scores for Putnam City. The dominant performance also gave Sloan a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Schuylar Turnbull was another key player, throwing for 161 yards and one TD.

Southmoore's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Putnam City, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Southmoore will challenge Stillwater at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pioneers' defense has only allowed 11.1 points per game this season, so the SaberCats' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Putnam City, they will square off against Piedmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
