Recap: Pike Red Devils vs. Lawrence North Wildcats

After flying high against the Perry Meridian Falcons last Tuesday, the Pike Red Devils came back down to earth. Pike fell 68-56 to Lawrence North on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Pike can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Lawrence North is ranked third).

Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Damon Howard, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Coryell Spates, who scored 13 points.

It was another big night for Azavier Robinson, who scored 27 points along with eight rebounds and three steals for Lawrence North. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robinson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Mcgrew, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.

Pike has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Lawrence North, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Pike will head out on the road to square off against Carmel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lawrence North, Lawrence North and North Central will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully North Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Wednesday.
