Basketball Recap: E.E. Smith Takes Down Havelock in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only E.E. Smith walked away with it. They were the clear victor by an 81-57 margin over the Havelock Rams on Tuesday. The Golden Bulls pushed the score to 57-37 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rams had little chance of recovering from.

E.E. Smith found their leader in freshman Marcus 'MJ' Mcduffie, who to rack up 27 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcduffie has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Smith, who en route to 14 points.

E.E. Smith is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points over those games. Havelock's loss dropped their record down to 11-9.

Coming up, E.E. Smith will head out to face off against First Flight at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. First Flight knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully E.E. Smith likes a good challenge. Havelock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
