Baseball Recap: Glenbard North Comes Up Short

Glenbard North had lost six straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 9-12 to make it seven. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Park Lancers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 10-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Lake Park, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games.

For Lake Park's part, Gavin O'Neil was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. O'Neil has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. He has become a key player for Lake Park: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 9-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tommy Pruyn, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Gallagher, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

While Glenbard North had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
