Baseball Recap: IMG Academy Blue Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but IMG Academy Blue ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate Phoenix 5-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 back in February.

Kapono Kaha'i tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because IMG Academy Blue is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Brennan Prendergast and Charles Chenail did most of the damage at the plate: Prendergast got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two doubles and one RBI, while Chenail scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two doubles gave Prendergast a new career-high.

The win made it two in a row for IMG Academy Blue and bumps their season record up to 8-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. IMG Academy Blue will welcome Central Pointe Christian Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate, they will challenge Leto at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
