Soccer Game Preview: Brookline vs. Newton North

The Brookline Warriors will face off against the Newton North Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brookline will be strutting in after a victory while Newton North will be coming in after a loss.

If Brookline beats Newton North with two goals on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against Milton on Tuesday, sneaking past 2-1. Given Brookline's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts soccer rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Milton are ranked 159th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Newton North didn't have quite enough to beat Wellesley on Tuesday and fell 3-2.

Brookline's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6-5. As for Newton North, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8-3.

Brookline skirted past Newton North 2-1 in their previous matchup back in September. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
