Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Jasper's 14th in Last 16 Outings

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Jasper ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Corner Yellow Jackets. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted against the Yellow Jackets since April 9, 2015.

America Montgomery and Emersyn Haney did most of the damage at the plate: Montgomery scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5, while Haney scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Montgomery has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lexi Kilgore, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Jasper kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Jasper is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Corner, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13-1.

Looking ahead, Jasper will square off against Cullman at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Corner, they will take on Carbon Hill in a tournament on Friday.
