The Wildcats have beaten the Highlanders the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Highlanders has come to flipping the script.
Eleanor Riley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Riley was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Bielenberg, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Scappini, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
Mount Si was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, Newport - Bellevue finally came back down to earth on Monday. They lost 17-1 to North Creek. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Newport - Bellevue saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Blank, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Mount Si's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Newport - Bellevue, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1-1 and their overall record down to 3-2-1.
Newport - Bellevue's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Mount Si has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Newport - Bellevue, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Mount Si keep running through batters, or will Newport - Bellevue buck the trend?
