Softball Recap: Breese Central Wins Going Away Against East Alton-Wood River

Breese Central's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the East Alton-Wood River Oilers 8-2. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Oilers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Lily Lappe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cece Toennies was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Madison Ahle, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Breese Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Alton-Wood River only managed four hits.

Breese Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-18. As for East Alton-Wood River, they dropped their record down to 8-12 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coming up, East Alton-Wood River will welcome Litchfield at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Breese Central will be paying especially close attention to the Oilers' contest: after the Oilers face off against the Purple Panthers, they'll take on Breese Central again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
