Basketball Recap: St. Anthony Takes a Loss

After flying high against Hmong American Peace Academy last Thursday, St. Anthony came back down to earth. The St. Anthony Roman Legion fell 51-40 to the Milwaukee Arts Crimson Stars on Tuesday. The Roman Legion were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crimson Stars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why St. Anthony lost, don't look at Anthony Ruvalcaba. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 rebounds. Ruvalcaba has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last ten times he's played. Anthony Perez was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

St. Anthony's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Milwaukee Arts, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-15.

The future could be bright for both St. Anthony and Milwaukee Arts: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. St. Anthony will look to extend University Lake/Trinity Academy's three-game losing streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Milwaukee Arts will try to hand Milwaukee Lifelong Learning their sixth-straight loss when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
