League recap: Littlefield stuns Childress in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Littlefield, who took down 466th ranked Childress, 20-14.

The Wildcats scaled the state rankings by moving to 432 from 481 this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region I District 1. Littlefield climbed the ranks as a result of besting the Bobcats 20-14.

Bushland's Taylor Cornelius and Brian Gillette led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-6 quarterback Cornelius has thrown for 1,981 yards this season, while Gillette has 44 catches for 479 yards. Childress' Da'Shoud Hughes leads the league in rushing yards with 398.

Going into this week's contest against Dimmitt, the Falcons' Cornelius needs 19 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Muleshoe takes on Cody Chisum's team. The Mules are currently in fourth, while the Bobcats are in first.
