Baseball Recap: Beachside Comes Up Short

On Thursday, the Beachside Barracudas came up short against the Oviedo Lions and fell 7-4.

Beachside got a good showing from Cohen Cox, who pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Cox a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Brennan Monaco made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Beachside has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. The win made it two in a row for Oviedo and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

Beachside and Oviedo could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Beachside (ranked 351st) will meet Hagerty (ranked 15th) at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Oviedo will square off against Viera at 1:00 p.m. on Friday down 152 places (264 vs. 112).
