Basketball Recap: Ninilchik Picks Up 16th Consecutive Win

Ninilchik extended their winning streak to 16 on Tuesday, bumping them up to 20-2. They blew past the Homer Mariners, posting an 80-34 win. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Ninilchik was led to victory by Kade McCorison and Andon McCorison. Kade almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine assists, while Andon dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten rebounds. The game was Kade's 14th in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Brandt Mill, who posted four points and six steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Ninilchik was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2025.

As for Homer, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Ninilchik is ranked ninth).

Several Mariners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Steven Burns, who earned seven points.

Ninilchik didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-50 defeat against Kenai Central on the 21st. As for Homer, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 56-39 victory against Houston on the 19th.
