Softball Game Preview: Arlington Lions vs. Canyon Springs Cougars

The Arlington Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Canyon Springs Cougars at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Arlington's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Canyon Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Arlington is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Roosevelt on Saturday. They lost 17-1 to the Mustangs. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Lions, who until this match were averaging 3.81 runs allowed.

Delany Perez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Canyon Springs sidestepped Hillcrest for a 3-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Canyon Springs' win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Arlington, they moved to 11-5 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Everything went Arlington's way against Canyon Springs in their previous meeting on April 3rd, as Arlington made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
