Baseball Game Preview: Century Diamondbacks vs. Preston Indians

For the second straight game, Century will face off against Preston. The Diamondbacks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Century has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Century fell victim to Preston and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Indians, falling 15-0. Surprisingly, this marked the Diamondbacks' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

For Preston's part, not much got past Caide Oxborrow, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Century off the board. The Indians are 2-1 when Oxborrow allows one or fewer hits, but 4-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Preston got a massive performance out of Janson Hollingsworth, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Hollingsworth is becoming a predictor of the Indians' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-3 (and 0-7 when he doesn't). Conner Thomson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Preston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The victory snapped Preston's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-10 record. As for Century, they dropped their record down to 7-16 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
