Baseball Game Preview: St. John Paul II Lions vs. Nauset Regional Warriors

St. John Paul II hasn't had much luck against Nauset Regional recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Lions will head out to face off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. St. John Paul II is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

St. John Paul II's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Thursday, when they got past Monomoy's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Lions put the hurt on the Sharks with a sharp 11-1 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by nine runs or more this season.

Xavien Suero made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Suero was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Logan Our was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Brandon Gomes was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

St. John Paul II was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Nauset Regional scored first but ultimately less than Dennis-Yarmouth Regional in their contest on Friday. They came up short against the Dolphins, falling 8-1.

Nauset Regional now has a losing record of 1-2. As for St. John Paul II, their record now sits at 5-0.
