Softball Recap: Pulaski Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cato-Meridian, Pulaski was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Thousand Islands Vikings.

Danicka Gilbert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Hayden Reynolds was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mattison Pollic, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Pulaski has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Thousand Islands, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

As of now, neither Pulaski nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
